The Heritage Newham – People, Places, Progress group is holding a public meeting in two week’s time.
In line with today’s current COVID restrictions it will be held online via Zoom on Thursday October 8 from 5 to 7pm.
We hope you can join us to discuss our future projects and anything else history or heritage related, writes Colin Grainger.
Speakers have been lined up to talk about new projects being considered to help us preserve the history and heritage of our borough.
Please email our founder Kevin Jenkins at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will send you back an invite to join the meeting.
And there’s also a chance for you to help shape the future of the group. We were formed four years ago by those with an interest in Newham’s rich heritage and history. We have already staged many heritage events, including playing key roles in three Newham Heritage festivals, the recent Newham Heritage Month and a number of our own celebrations.
And our three social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, has posts at least once every day sharing memories and also previewing events staged not only by ourselves but other groups locally and nationally.
We also run a Heritage group for young people in the borough, in conjunction with charity Ambition, Aspire, Achieve.
We have posted and shared and created an archive of more than 5,000 images of the past, and shared many of them with of the 20 plus Facebook memories groups devoted to Newham.
Please get in touch and join us.
